Silent Light
This is a winter version of Falling Light. I was particularly focusing on the colors and depth of the snow, inspired by a picture from a calendar - Long Forgotten by Michael Humphries.

Her Silver Mantle
“Silence was pleased: now glowed the firmament
With living sapphires: Hesperus that led
The starry host, rode brightest, till the Moon
Rising in clouded Majesty, at length
Apparent queen unveiled her peerless light,
And o're the dark her Silver Mantle threw.”
— Paradise Lost
I created this picture in Vue to use for a mural on my bedroom wall.

Midnight Dawn
I was trying to make a picture with the Northern Lights. I'm not sure it turned out very authentic, but I thought it made a nice picture anyway.
Created in Vue 11 Complete with minor adjustments in Paint Shop Pro.

Christmas in the Pines
This is a Christmas version of Wind in the Pines. It was inspired by a visit to my grandfather's timber farm, which is why the pines are in rows. It's almost like being out in the forest, just a little more orderly!

Out of Fairyland
This is a reverse of Pass of Light; I basically just turned the (virtual) camera around. It didn't take nearly as long to render without the glowing translucent castle in the background.

Down the Empyrean Stream
This space fantasy image was inspired by Empyrean from Mike Oldfield's Music of the Spheres.

Phoenix of the North
A cold and barren landscape doesn't have to be grim. I did a phoenix-like abstract work before, so I thought an ice phoenix would be an interesting variation. Created in Vue, with the streaming effect done in Paint Shop Pro. The texture on the phoenix is from the background of Waltz of the Snowflakes.

A Month in the Life of the Moon
Waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, third quarter, waning crescent. You'll have to imagine the new moon …

Waltz of the Snowflakes
A nice snowy design to celebrate winter. The title is from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite. The background fractal is from Apophysis, jewels rendered in Vue, the rest in Paint Shop Pro.
